What a delight to welcome the star of The Battle – Edward – to talk to us about his inner thoughts and feelings on ‘battling’ his fears, and he also gives some great tips for other ‘knights’ anticipating the school day. Thanks so much, Edward!

Edward, it’s a pleasure to talk with you today!

Can you please tell us, what ‘battle’ you were preparing for on your first day of school? What was going through your mind?

Why do you think you saw the other children as giants, dragons and ogres? What was it about them that made you want to hide?

What were your first thoughts when Lucy (the ogre) sat down next to you? What made you change your mind about her?

What’s your favourite game to play?

What does the word ‘trust’ mean to you? Why is this an important concept when it comes to having friends?

Where do you think your author, Ashling Kwok, got the idea to write a character like you?

What do you think of how the illustrator, Cara King, portrayed you in the book?

What kinds of things do you want other ‘knights’ like you to know about starting school?

Anything else you’d like to share with us about your story, Edward?

Thanks so much for joining us and sharing your ‘victory’ with us, Edward! 😊
