Karen Tyrrell has many, many books and many, many talents under her belt! She is a gifted and passionate author, motivational speaker, workshop presenter, interactive pantomime performer and tutor, with a background in teaching and in particular, science. Karen writes empowering and imaginative books on diverse inclusive, anti-bullying, resilience and environmental topics, which help kids live STRONG through humour and self-belief.
Karen’s acclaimed books include her set of four Song Bird Superhero series, Bailey Beats the Blah, Harry Helps Grandpa Remember, and Super Space Kids series. She is a powerhouse in obtaining endorsements and sponsorships for her books, including Kids Helpline, Queensland National Parks, Alzheimer’s Australia, Black Dog Institute and more. Karen has also been the recipient of literary grants and a mentorship through the Society of Editors (Queensland).

This woman is a superhero herself. With what she’s been through as a bullied teacher to what she does now to help children is amazing. My kids have all her novels except the picture books, and love the latest SongBird sequel about the Great Barrier Reef. I hope she keeps on powering forward and we all hope she comes back to Brisbane Square Library again.
