WHO

Who wrote, illustrated and published this book?

This picture book was written by Suzanne Barton (me!), illustrated by Shannon Horsfall and published by Hachette Australia.

WHAT

What is it called and what is it about?

The book is called My Unicorn Farts Glitter. It’s an irreverent, playful tale about a stinky, loud, messy – but lovable – unicorn, and all the trouble he gets up to. In short, it’s a book about sibling love and farty bath-times, with a twist at the end.

WHEN

When is its release / launch date?

My Unicorn Farts Glitter was released in August. The paperback edition will come out in December, and a French translation is on the way in January.

WHERE

Where did the inspiration for this book come from?

In truth, the first line of the book just popped into my head: My unicorn ruins my bubble bath, with stinky glitter farts. The silliness of this image made me giggle and from there the relationship between the little unicorn and his big sister slowly took shape.

WHY

Why is this book meaningful to you and why would its message resonate with readers?

I loved writing this book because it has moments of both true silliness and true love. I hope young readers will relate to the joys and frustrations of having a younger sibling, as well as getting a giggle at the little unicorn’s hijinks.

HOW

How have you promoted this book and how can we find it?

I am working with the lovely people at Hachette to promote the book, including doing some events at bookshops in Victoria, where I live now, and Western Australia, where I grew up. It’s available in most major bookshops and through major online retailers.
